Malia Bavuso
Project Designer
Malia Bavuso realized her love for creating at an early age. This love included a specific interest in architecture and design that carried through her educational years and into her career. After visiting Tulane University in New Orleans as a junior in high school, she knew it was where she wanted to study.
Originally from Milwaukee, Malia now calls New Orleans home. She graduated with a 5-year accredited BArch degree from Tulane and is currently working on licensure. Before starting her career with MetroStudio in June of 2024, Malia interned for a summer at Tomecek Studio in Denver, CO. This gave her insight into the profession as well as a chance to fit in a good bit of hiking.
Malia says college “was incredibly eye opening for me and how I view the process of architecture (it doesn’t just start and end with drawing!).” Her favorite project during academia was for the URBANbuild program at Tulane. She says she is excited for the opportunity to work on larger public and commercial projects in the future with MetroStudio.
Currently, she is part of the MetroStudio team working on the renovation of an iconic, local grocery as well as the adaptive reuse of an exceptionally large, industrial site in the city. Malia has also become the go-to for in-office renderings making it easier for clients to imagine their projects coming to life.
