MetroStudio was approached by Sigma Engineers and Constructors to redevelop an existing 3.7 acre site in Baton Rouge to function as their new headquarters for Petrochemical/Structural/Civil/Electrical Engineering Divisions. The initial phase of the 13,000 sf redevelopment of the former bank building into an open office, team-oriented environment was completed in a compressed 6-week, design-build time frame.

The Born(e) Again Church

The home pictured entailed the adaptive reuse and addition to an existing 1800’s era church and parsonage building located in the Historic Faubourg St. John neighborhood of New Orleans. MetroStudio conceived this design as a sensitive appropriation of an existing set of buildings. The design retained historic materials and assemblies juxtaposed against modern materials and amenities resulting in a highly functional family residence. The home has been photographed for multiple publications and featured in numerous local home tours.

Tropical Isle

On May 16th 2009 the Original Tropical Isle Nightclub sustained catastrophic damage as a result of a fire. Reopening the business required an arduous and complete renovation. Working with the tenants to develop a much more efficient floor plan, the bar/kitchen layout was completely rethought. The mechanical, lighting and sound systems were enhanced and the viability of the 146 yr old building was ensured for decades to come with the addition of a new internal structural bracing system. The custom engineered bracing system was designed to be completely invisible; preserving the historic appearance and character of the building.

MetroStudio partnered with an Interior Design Firm out of New Jersey to complete this extensive Hotel Restoration and Renovation. The overall exterior design, shell improvements, upgrades and improvements to the infrastructure, and all things that pertained to the Historic Restoration of the building landed with MetroStudio. The interior design and overall aesthetic choices for the interior of the hotel were designed and decided upon by the Interior Design Firm.

Lafitte Historic Building

The project entails the adaptive reuse of an existing historically significant building within the Lafitte District of New Orleans. The proposed redevelopment includes a mixed-use program of offices and tenant amenities including a new workout facility, flexible meeting space and collocating offices. Given the constraints of the existing building, the design accommodates new elevators, egress stairs and mechanical infrastructure in two new modern “bookend” additions.
