Thelma Diejomaoh

Project Designer

Thelma Diejomaoh, originally from Nigeria, received her bachelor’s degree from University of Lagos, Nigeria, and her master’s degree in the United States from South Dakota State University. As a teenager, she says she was always intrigued by the idea of Architecture and spatial design in general. “I valued placing/rearranging objects within a space to make it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The value of space and its ability to impact human lives is unique to Architecture as a field”. She is currently studying for her AREs in order to fulfil one of her goals by becoming a licensed architect within the next 5 years.

Thelma’s work experience began with Design Union and Blue Mahogany, both design firms located in Nigeria. There she gained valuable experience with project management as well as furthering her design abilities. One of the biggest projects she worked on is Eden Heights, a high-rise residential project located in Lagos. For this important urban development, she not only assisted in preparing the interior details for the Construction Documents, but also had the opportunity to visit the site during the building’s construction phase giving her more insight on the connections between design and construction.

In the United States, she previously volunteered at Habitat for Humanity where she gained valuable experience in learning about building materials and the construction process. Thelma is currently working on a few challenging projects at MetroStudio. One of these is REDD House, a multi-family residential renovation and redesign with the intent to provide housing and studio space for artists featured at Ashe Cultural Center in New Orleans. She also just completed work on a new public medical clinic facility in Belle Chasse. With this project Thelma was able to see the public bid process and manage CA independently. She hopes to be involved in more multi-family residential projects as well as even larger commercial and hospitality endeavors.
